Defining Your Play Area (Guardian Setup) means creating a virtual boundary in your physical space to ensure safety while using a VR headset like the Meta Quest 3. This boundary helps prevent you from bumping into walls, furniture, or other objects in your environment while you’re immersed in virtual reality. Here’s what it involves:

  1. Purpose of the Guardian:
  2. The Guardian system tracks your movements and alerts you if you get too close to the edges of your designated play area. It creates a visible “fence” or boundary inside the VR world to keep you safe.
  3. How to Set It Up:
  1. While wearing the headset, you use the VR controllers to trace the area you want to use for VR. This area should be free of obstacles like furniture or other people.
  2. You can choose between:
    • Roomscale: For larger spaces where you can walk around.
    • Stationary: For sitting or standing in one spot.
  3. What Happens Inside VR:
  4. If you move too close to the edge of the play area, you’ll see a visual grid (the “Guardian”) appear in the VR environment, warning you that you’re near the boundary.

This feature is essential for both safety and a better VR experience, as it lets you focus on the virtual world without worrying about your surroundings.
