What is Casting?

Casting is when the Quest 3 sends the visuals and audio from the headset to another device, so others can see what’s happening in real-time. It uses Wi-Fi to stream the content to a compatible device.

How to Cast on Quest 3

  1. Prepare Your Devices:
  1. Ensure your Quest 3 and the device you’re casting to (TV, phone, or computer) are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
  2. If using a TV, it should support Chromecast or have a Chromecast device plugged in.
  3. Launch Casting:
  1. Put on your Quest 3 headset.
  2. Open the Quick Settings Menu by pressing the Oculus button on your controller and selecting the clock in the menu bar.
  3. In the Quick Settings panel, select “Cast”.
  4. Choose Your Casting Destination:
  5. Select a device from the list of available casting options:
    • Smartphone: Use the Meta Quest app on your phone (available for iOS and Android).
    • TV: Choose your TV with Chromecast support.
    • Computer: Open a browser, go to meta.com/casting, and follow the instructions.
  6. Start Casting:
  1. Once you’ve selected the device, click “Start Casting” in the headset.
  2. The headset screen will now be mirrored on your chosen device.
  3. Stop Casting:
  4. To stop casting, go back to the Quick Settings menu and select “Stop Casting”.

Tips for Smooth Casting:

  • Use a strong Wi-Fi connection for better performance and reduced lag.
  • For TVs, Chromecast Ultra or built-in Chromecast features provide the best experience.
  • If casting to a phone or computer, ensure the Meta Quest app or browser tab is active.
